The Beach
Muizenberg is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town, but is highly unpredictable weather-wise. Muizes is on theĀ ’Cape Town end’ of the 80km stretch of beach to Hangklip, the end of False Bay.
Beach:
Cape Town is battered by South Easter winds all year round, and un-sheltered Muizenberg suffers the most. When the wind is calm, and the crowds are at home, muizies is one of the best beaches to visit in Cape Town.
Surf:
Muizies likes a Noth West wind (offshore = good). Alas, most days are South East (onshore = bad). Muizies breaks on a longggg sand bar, which makes it almost purely a high tide break. Low tide with big swell can result in a 1km paddle to the backline with no distinct channels.
The best thing about muizies is that it is flat about 10 times per year, there is almost always a wave for a longboard. High tide with a North West wind is always guaranteed fun…
